Here I am on the Veldt!
Hey, fellow travellers! I'm Laguna Loire, and I'm really happy to welcome you back to The Travelling Companion. Since my last column, I've travelled to the Veldt!

It wasn't easy reaching the Veldt - I couldn't get any airships to take me there, so I ended up walking through an abandoned army camp, exploring a phantom forest, riding on a haunted train and finally jumping off a waterfall. It was kinda fun, and I washed up right where I wanted to go.

The Veldt is a great place for a pro monster hunter to go - there's all kinds of neato creatures wandering around. I saw monsters from all the worlds I've visited on my travels! You'll want to bring your best weapons and lots of potions, though, because some of the monsters can be pretty tough.

The scenery here is just breathtaking. It's really cool how there're all these nifty little bushes and scrub strewn around it, but mostly it's grass and dirt. There's one really nice mountain, called Crescent Mountain (I don't know why... maybe it was discovered by a guy named Crescent?), and the Serpent Trench is totally cool.

The only town around here is Moblitz. They use standard gil, so you shouldn't have any trouble buying stuff. I got a souvenir diving helmet that was supposed to fit three people, but I must not have been one of them, because I couldn't figure out how to put it on. There were some nice Relics, and even some good weapons and armor, in the shops, too.

Lodging in Moblitz is easy. There was this one place where I could rest for free, but I didn't really want to make the innkeeper feel bad, so I stayed at the inn, instead. The service there was really great. They let me do everything however I wanted to. In fact, they let me do everything, even sweep the floors! It was really comfortable, although I kinda wish they'd put the termite mound outside.

The food around here was just great. The local specialty is dried meat, so I bought a lot of it. It's great, because it lasts pretty much forever. I'll probably still have some to nibble on a few years from now! Also, I gave some to this nice wild boy, and he joined my party for a while.

All in all, I give this place a 10!
